Will Fuller sets Texans rookie receiving record

Will Fuller’s first season in the NFL is off to a good start.

The first-round draft pick of the Houston Texans became just the second receiver in NFL history to record 100 receiving yards in each of his first two NFL games, joining DeSean Jackson as the only other receiver to manage the feat, according to Rotoworld. Fuller is also the first Texans rookie receiver to begin his career with 100-yard receiving games in franchise history, according to Mark Berman of Fox 26.

Fuller had five catches for 107 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 against the Chicago Bears. On Sunday, against the Kansas City Chiefs, Fuller followed up his massive Week 1 performance with four catches for 104 yards, including a 53-yard grab he nearly scored on.

This is nothing new for Fuller. He averaged nearly 100 receiving yards per game his final year at Notre Dame. And like Jackson, speed is the name of the game for Fuller. He ran a 4.32 in the 40-yard dash at the NFL combine last February.

Fuller will attempt to keep his 100-yard streak going in Week 3 as the Texans face off against the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football. Although the Patriots won 31-24 against the Dolphins on Sunday, the secondary allowed Ryan Tannehill to pass for 389 yards and two touchdowns. Miami receivers Jarvis Landry and DeVante Parker each had 100-yard receiving games. This is potentially good news for Houston’s receiving duo of Fuller and DeAndre Hopkins.
