Blow For Barkley, Whiff for Griff Power Rankings, Week 16.

Well, well, well…just as we thought it was a foregone conclusion that Andrew Luck would be a Colt for the next 10 years, they go and do the impossible and win a game. Despite Jim Irsay’s tweet of happiness, there must be great concern amongst Colts nation. While the Colts still most likely hold the tiebreaker over the Vikings, if they should win out against the Texans and Jacksonville they would put Minnesota in the driver’s seat with the first pick overall. The Colts have been putting their best foot forward at the worst time as Donald Brown has even emerged as an NFL player in the process.

Should the Colts win out – and that still is a stretch – it would be complete and utter madness in the NFL. With the Vikings holding the first pick they would most likely trade the pick to a team for a Herschel Walker type ransom. That would also put any QB needy team back in the Suck for Luck race.

Wake up and smell the hummus Indy, time to start sucking for Luck again!

@evansilvaPer @RobRang, “there is growing sentiment” that Robert Griffin’s upside could convince some NFL teams that RG3 > Luck.

Like we noted last week, there is discussion around the league that RG3 has the most upside of any player in the draft. With Barkley and RG3 coming up don’t be surprised to see 3 QB’s in the top 8 picks of next year’s NFL draft.

As the season slowly draws to an end things are really starting to pick up for those QB needy teams.

1) Cleveland Browns (4-10) – Currently 4th pick overall

Cleveland had a lead going into the 4th quarter and then the best thing possible happened to them: John Skelton. Skelton, a poor man’s Tebow, was able to lead the Cardinals back and add another much needed loss to the Browns record. Matt Barkley is a good fit for Cleveland but my gut tells me RG3 will be their guy in April. They have certainly set themselves up perfectly to get him.

2) Miami Dolphins (5-9) – Currently 7th Pick overall

Reggie Bush decided to turn into Walter Peyton down the stretch, and his dominance continued this week with a 200+ yard performance against the Bills. The Dolphins continue to play hard, however games against the Patriots and Jets left could set them up nicely to be selecting around 5-7th overall which SHOULD get them one of the top 3 guys remaining.

3) Washington Redskins (5-9) – 8th pick overall

The Redskins are red hot at the worst time. After coming close against New England, Washington brought their A game to New York. This win really hurt them after they had a chance to move up on the draft board with a Dolphins win. The Redskins still have the Vikings on their schedule which most likely would allow them to finish with a 6-10 record and put them around the 10th pick overall.

(Peyton Manning might also be a wildcard option here for the Skins, if the Colts release him.)

Outside looking in:

Buffalo Bills (5-9) – Seems unlikely as Gailey has reiterated his long-term faith in Fitzpatrick despite the fact that he is worse than David Carr.

Jacksonville Jaguars (4-10) – While they might be selecting in the top 5, my gut still tells me Justin Blackmon will be their pick. Despite the fact that Gabbert makes for a worse QB then the entire cast of mean girls, the Jags probably will wait one more year on him while giving him some weapons to work with.

It should be a very interesting last 2 weeks, and may the worst team win!
