New England 23, Baltimore 20 – Can I Kick It? by A Tribe Called Quest

Billy Cundiff: “Can I kick it?” – No you can’t!

The Baltimore Ravens kicker missed a 32-yard field goal with 11 seconds left and the New England Patriots ran away with a 23-20 victory in the AFC Championship Game to earn the right to play in the Super Bowl.

Baltimore got off to a rough start as Joe Flacco was not able get into rhythm, but they never took themselves out of the game as their strong defensive play was able to keep Tom Brady in check.

As the game began to progress it was Flacco who started building steam, making several plays to keep the Ravens in the game. Despite his strong play it seemed Flacco was never able to connect on the big play.

New England got some help from the law firm as tough interior running helped New England take a late lead in the game. We didn’t get to see classic Tom Brady today, but his dive over the goal line for the game-deciding points (and a rib-cracking hit from Ray Lewis) proved to be just enough.

It is a very tough way for Ed Reed, Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs to end their season. They deserved a better outcome from their special teams after having a heck of a season.

New York Giants 20, San Francisco 17 – New York, New York by Frank Sinatra

The second game did not disappoint and as it took more then 60 minutes to decide who from the NFC deserved to play for the Super Bowl.

It was a rainy, physical defensive football game that saw offenses struggles throughout the game. Eli Manning did what does, Vernon Davis did what he does best and the two defenses shined.

However despite the hard-nosed play of both teams, like the AFC championship game it was one mistake that cost their team a trip to the Super Bowl.

Kick returner Kyle Williams, filling in for Ted Ginn Jr, fumbled twice including a game-ender in overtime, eventually costing his team a ticket to the big dance.

We are in store for one heck of a Super Bowl.
