There’s a bit of troubling news out of Charlotte today – Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was reportedly injured in a car accident, though the severity of his injuries aren’t known at this time. Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer and Kami Mattioli of The Sporting News were at the scene covering the accident.

The initial report from the Observer stated that a car crashed and overturned, and another car was also involved in the accident.

CMFD says one passenger in each vehicle. Witness says other car pulled out in front of Cam. Says Cam's truck car "flipped at least 3 times."

Hopefully, Newton’s alright and this accident didn’t result in a serious injury.
UPDATE: Newton was smiling after the accident, and his trip to the hospital was reportedly just a precaution.
